The ultimate all-purpose red pepper flakes. Mild, fruity, and colorful.

Korean pepper flakes are used in countless recipes in their mother country. In addition to Korean pepper paste, the famous red pepper powder is used in dishes from Korean BBQ, Bibimbap and different kinds of kim chi, among others. It can also be used kick up stir-fried vegetables and marinades.

It’s the red pepper flake we use most in the Épices de Cru kitchen, thanks to its incredible adaptability. It works as well with meat as it does sauces and salad dressings. It’s also a great chile to finish soups, pastas, and fish.

Our Korean red pepper owes its exceptional aroma to the fresh mountain air of Eastern Korea, where it’s harvested for the Kim family’s Kim Chi business. Dissatisfied by the quality of the chilies available, they set out to find the ingredients that could meet the needs of their company. The search took years and resulted in an unparalleled product- the pepper flakes they now send us is the highest possible quality, usually reserved for the Japanese market. We’re proud to be the first company to import these exceptional chile flakes to North America.

In Korea, kimchi graces the table at every meal (annual national production is more than 2 million tons!). There are at least 150 different varieties, each made with about every kind of red pepper flake imaginable. No self-respecting Korean chef would be without Korean pepper in his or her kitchen: the great importance of this spice in Korean cuisine means that people often prefer to buy their Korean pepper flakes directly from a trusted supplier.
