Portuguese cuisine has a lot in common with many Mediterranean countries, particularly in terms of the number of dishes that call for abundant amounts of olive oil, herbs and citrus. Portugal played and important role in the spice trade throughout Europe and to this day many traditional dishes call for a variety of spices, including Peri-Peri chilies.
This is precisely the aromatic profile that we were determined to reproduce when creating this spice blend which is composed of paprika, aromatic spices such as cinnamon and allspice, as well as orange and lemon zest.
Our Layover in Portugal blend is ideal for enhancing oven-roasted white fish, bean or lentil stews and seafood soup. It contains the perfect combination of spices to make red or white wine-based braised meat dishes, or tomato centric stews. For a quick roast chicken marinade, mix the spices with a little garlic, lemon juice or vinegar and salt.
Ingredients: paprika, lemon zest, orange zest, chili, pepper, cumin, oregano, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, cloves, bay leaves.
