Mitmita is an Ethiopian seasoning that’s very hot and lightly salty. It is used in Ethiopia as a dip for the famous crepes called Injeera, made from teff and which accompany most meals. It is also used as a condiment and as a finishing touch on a variety of dishes – as we do with pepper. Our blend is prepared using aromatic spices alongside hot Ethiopian chilies, which we roast ourselves.
Mitmita Spice Salt is multipurpose and can be used for more than just Ethiopian cuisine. It’s a blend that can enhance simple vegetable or legume dishes, mashed sweet potatoes or grilled meats. When used as a finishing touch, it certainly could add some personality to a beef or lamb tartare, roasted pumpkin or a stew. Excellent for creating a spicy mayonnaise!
