A rich, sumptuous version of the classic Ethiopian Berbere.
Berbere is a complex blend that’s mainly used in Ethiopian cooking. It’s an all-purpose blend that can be used in innumerable dishes, not unlike a curry. In its native country, it flavors all kinds of simmered dishes, including doro wett, one of Ethiopia’s best known dishes. Berbere is great for marinating a chicken before grilling, or to kick up a soup or simple tomato sauce.
Our royal edition starts with chilies, roasted in house. It also has rare spices, harvested in wild Ethiopian coffee forests, like Korarima cardamom. The blend, which also includes Ethiopian thyme, is at once more complex and more refined than the original.
Ingredients: chilil, ginger, pepper, mace, cardamom, adjwain, fenugreek, nigella, coriander, cassia, garlic, rosemary, thyme, cloves.
