One of India’s most popular chiles, colourful and pungent.
Teja chile is harvested in the district of Guntur, aka “Chile City”, on the south-eastern coast of India, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It plays an important role in southern Indian cuisine, where dishes are notorious for their bold flavours. This is but one variety of the Guntur group, a collection of very hot, colourful chiles.
This chile can easily be incorporated into recipes that call for heat and colour – like Cayenne peppers – but will not impact the flavours of the other aromatics.
