Ground in-house. A rare variety of turmeric from Meghalaya, a state in northern India, with very high curcumin content (7% to 9%), a rich dark orange color, and a penetrating flavor. Used almost exclusively in combination with other spices, turmeric gives Caribbean and Indian curries their warm yellow color and flavor.
Due to its high curcumin content, Lakadong is favored by many for its health and gastronomic benefits. Besides being an excellent flavoring and coloring spice, turmeric is known in Aryvudic medicine as an antiseptic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory.
