Egyptian Dukkha

Egyptian Dukkha

Dukkha is usually served as a snack with bread and olive oil – for us, it’s a must at cocktail time. Simply dip a piece of bread in olive oil and then into the dukkha. The simplest version is made using almonds, but it’s easy to make appetizing variations with different kinds of nuts, by creating combinations of all kinds or even using chick-peas exclusively for those with allergies. This nut and spice blend is equally delicious as a garnish when serving grilled meats or in salads.

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp dukkha spices
  • ¾ nuts (hazelnuts, almonds, pistachios, ...) or roasted chickpeas

Method

  1. 1

Grind the dukkha spices finely. Set aside.

  2. 2

Grind half the nuts/chick peas into a medium/fine powder.

  3. 3

Grind the remainder of the nuts to a chunky texture.

  4. 4

Mix them all together and serve with bread and olive oil.
