German Apple Cake

German Apple Cake

A rich, moist cake, kicked up with a popping spice blend based on cassia, cardamom, and ginger. If you don’t have our Mulling Spice Blend, you can still make the cake with cinnamon and a little nutmeg.


2 eggs

¾ cup vegetable oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

1½ cups sugar

2 cups flour

1 Tbsp Mulling Spice Blend

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

1 cup pineapple or apple juice

3 small apples, sliced

    Preheat oven to 350 °F.

    In a large bowl, beat eggs with oil and vanilla extract.

    In another bowl, mix dry ingredients together.

    Add dry ingredients to egg mixture, alternating with the pineapple juice.

  5. 5

    Pour the mixture in a 10-inch round mold. Place apple slices on the cake.

    Bake in oven for 50-55 minutes.
